About the role
East Sussex County Council is recruiting for a Flood Risk Technician. This role will help us maintain the high quality of service we offer to the residents of East Sussex and focuses on providing technical support to the Flood Risk Management Team. You will maintain records of flooding and other relevant datasets and, where necessary, undertake site visits and assist officers with their investigations. The role will include the manipulation and analysis of data in a GIS environment and therefore experience with Geographic Information System software (proprietary or open source) will be a distinct advantage. Administrative duties also form part of the post and you will be required, on occasion, to assist in the processing of payments for requests for flood risk advice from developers and applications for watercourse consent. It will also be necessary to help with managing our database of consultations on planning applications when work levels are particularly high.
You will be expected to deal with general enquiries from the public and partner organisations and support other members of the team with their casework. You may also be asked to act as the secretariat to flood risk management projects and working groups in the county, and with time you will be encouraged to contribute in a technical sense to flood risk management projects.
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
If you require any reasonable adjustments, due to disability, to enable you to participate fully in the process please contact the hiring manager on the contact details above.
Reasonable adjustments include things like an offline application form. If you would like to discuss your requirements further, please get in touch.
East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
