About the role

The Fostering Service is pleased to offer a secondment opportunity for a Practice Manager who will be part of a management team within the Fostering and Supported Lodgings Service.

Responsibilities will include:

  • the running of an extensive supported lodgings service. This role will include supervision and management of the staff team made up of a senior social worker, supported lodgings officer and caseworkers, as well as management oversight of the supported lodgings providers, placements and ongoing support and supervision provided by the team.
  • the oversight, coordination of the referral pathway to supportive accommodation placements for all our young people that are procured, commissioned or delivered by Children’s Services. This will involve matching of young people with complex needs, monitoring of quality standards and  outcomes as well as providing best value .

You must be capable of acting within and negotiating all areas of responsibility, have extensive experience of working directly with young people with complex needs, have strong multi-agency working skills, be a confident motivator and negotiator.

Although you will have primary responsibility for one element of the service, it would be expected that you would cover and support other parts of the Fostering Service as and when required.

ESCC’s Fostering Service has consistently delivered an innovative and forward-thinking initiatives underpinned by national policy. The successful candidate will also have strong multi-agency working skills, some experience of the supervision of staff, be a confident motivator, negotiator and hold a professional social work qualification.

Most of all we are looking for a candidate who can take advantage of East Sussex’s culture of taking services to the next level to achieve the best outcomes for its young people.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
