Would you like an opportunity to support Hertfordshire delivering better outcomes for children aged 0-7 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We are looking for someone with relevant experience and skills in the areas of speech, language & communication needs (SLCN) and autism in the Early Years phase who is well equipped to develop effective partnership working with schools/settings, parents/carers to ensure high quality provision for children and young people.

This role sits within the Speech Language Communication and Autism Team, carrying responsibility for advising and guiding early years settings in meeting special educational needs of children in the Early Years phase around SLCN and autism.  The successful candidate will work closely with two early years inclusion specialists who model approaches  around early  communication and support parents and practitioners to put them in place.  

The post holder will carry a caseload and generate effective high-quality advice and support to children and young people (0-7), their families and settings. They will model interventions, teaching approaches and strategies for staff in settings/ schools and will undertake statutory work as directed by Head of Service or Line Manager.

The SLCA team is part of ISL SEND Specialist Advice and Support Services (SENDSAS). The core purpose of SENDSAS is to ensure that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people, with a range of SEND, is supported in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and Children’s Services strategic objectives.  SENDSAS is part of Integrated Services for Learning, a multi-disciplinary service comprising of SEND Specialist Advice and Support services, Access & Inclusion Services, Educational Psychologists and Statutory services.

As part of Integrated Services for Learning (ISL) the post holder will work collaboratively with the Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL) Partnerships and other colleagues both within and outside ISL to promote early intervention and excellent inclusive practice.
