Compliance Officer – Data Protection & Freedom of Information

The City of London Corporation is a unique historic organisation in the heart of the City providing services to the Square Mile, London and the Country as a whole. We are looking to fill a vacancy within our Compliance Team and recruit a Compliance Assistant – Data Protection & Freedom of Information, within the Comptroller & City Solicitor`s Department.
The appointee will assist the team and Compliance Manager in co-ordinating responses to requests for information under the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), including compliance with data subject rights.
In addition, the appointee will assist with ensuring compliance by the organisation with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) and the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015.
In addition, the appointee will assist with developing and updating training and guidance materials; with compliance auditing; and contributing to the development of the FOIA Publication Scheme Guidance Document.
The work requires the post holder to have a good basic, preferably working, knowledge of the FOIA, DPA 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation. The post holder will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, both when dealing with the public and colleagues; be able to plan and organise their work effectively, managing their time in relation to competing requirements or deadlines; contribute to the work of the Compliance Team to a high standard; and be IT proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
