COMMUNITY ACTIVATOR – 25 hrs per week

GRADE D £20,493 to £23,080 (pro rata)

Erewash Borough Council’s Sport and Health Development team are looking for a Community Activator to drive the work of the Active Lives in Kirk Hallam project. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to work both as part of a team and on their own initiative. The candidate will have some experience of working in sport or physical activity within a community setting.
The individual will have experience of communicating with a wide variety of people including people from deprived communities, diverse backgrounds and cultures. We are looking for someone who will have worked with various assets in a community such as schools, clubs and community groups whilst having the ability to inspire, motivate and encourage volunteers and leadership within a community. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of issues and challenges faced by people who live in deprived areas and the ability to understand and empathise with people who live in Kirk Hallam.
This role will include building relationships in Kirk Hallam by creating various partnerships across the local area and Erewash. The Community Activator will take an asset based approach to their work by building up community assets and creating more opportunities for people to become physically active by creating community leaders through strong working relationships. Hours of work will mainly be day time working but may include occasional evenings and weekends.
This is a 25 hours a week temporary 18 month contract externally funded through Derbyshire County Council Public Health.
