About the role

KS1 Lead - Glenleigh Park Primary Academy

We are delighted to be able to offer you the chance to apply for this exciting role. We are a two form entry school with a purpose built Nursery which welcomes children aged two and over. Our large modern building, with extensive grounds, provides a fantastic learning environment. We have developed our KS1 curriculum significantly in recent years and there is great potential to do even more.

We use the Read, Write Inc. phonics (RWI) program right from a child’s first term in reception. We believe that children’s growth as a reader is key to helping them fully access learning into KS2 and beyond. With this in mind our ambitious aim is for all children to have completed the RWI program in year 2.

We build on this strong start to reading by working in partnership with Hackney Learning Trust to deliver Daily Supported Reader for all pupils in KS1 and Destination Reader in KS2 as we believe it is vital that our children are instilled with a passion for reading and a strong desire to read for pleasure.

There is a lot going on and this role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to make a real impact.

Glenleigh Park is a school that can offer exceptional professional development opportunities, high levels of support and the chance to make a real difference to pupils’ outcomes. We work closely with other schools in our Trust and there are several opportunities to share ideas and learn from each other.

Our Director of Early Years is a nationally recognised expert in EYFS provision and provides support across all seven schools in the Trust. The successful candidate will be joining a newly established leadership team who are ambitious in their aims and are confident that they can be achieved through strong teamwork, friendship and fun.

We are seeking to appoint an energetic, innovative leader to join our friendly and forward-thinking team.

Do you have the skills necessary to rise to a challenge? Are you someone who has high expectations and a desire to ensure the earliest educational experiences of our pupils are great? Can you lead and motivate others? Are you a positive person who enjoys implementing new initiatives and ideas?

If the answers to these questions is yes – then Glenleigh Park is the school for you!

Start date ideally September 22, but an earlier date can be negotiated for the right candidate.

We are looking for someone:

  • With the energy and passion to motivate, challenge and support children to be their very best
  • Who thrives as part of a team and is committed to continuing school improvement
  • That has high expectations of themselves and others
  • Who understands the importance of the job teachers do and who has a sense of humour and knows  when to use it
  • Who enjoys learning and wants to develop their skills and expertise further

Visits to the school are welcomed. To arrange a visit, please contact glpaoffice@auroraacademies.org
