Transport and Logistics Co-ordinator
Bracknell Forest Council is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic transport and logistic coordinator to join our small but busy transport office. Not only you will be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of BFC's fleet of vehicles and its Adult Social Care transport routes; you will also be providing logistic expertise to our Covid Response Group and other projects that require support.
We are looking for candidates who will work collaboratively with colleagues across the council, with Local Resilience Forums and community organisations. You will have transport and logistic experience, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to make things happen.
The role includes planning scheduled routine maintenance and arranging vehicle repairs, booking transport for a wide range of vulnerable customers, and allocating vehicles and drivers to routes. Our current logistic support to Covid Response involves the management and distribution of PPE, Lateral Flow Tests, and associated materials.
You will be carrying out the following duties….
Reporting to the Transport and Support Services Manager, Transport and Logistics Coordinators are responsible for:
Maintaining the BFC driver licence data base to ensure all drivers are eligible to drive.
Ensuring BFC vehicles are roadworthy by constant liaison with other council departments and nominated workshops.
Processing vehicle requests from initial booking to final invoicing.
Preparing vehicle tenders and both receipting and disposing of vehicles.
Maintaining the council’s section 19 and 22 permits in line with current legislation.
Coordinating drivers and vehicles to ensure that BFC's dial a ride service for clients with learning disabilities is safe and efficient.
Working closely with Adult Social Care to ensure transport service SLAs are maintained.
Carrying out minor driver maintenance on BFC vehicles.
Driving vehicles to nominated workshops.
Driving minibuses on routes when required.
Supporting emergency planning and Local Resilience Forums (such as COVID 19 response) and hoc projects within the council with any logistic requirements as required.
What we are looking for…..
A motivated and experienced logistics professional with excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently on a variety of multi-agency tasks with minimum supervision. A driving licence with D1 entitlement is essential however D1 training may be provided for a suitable applicant.
