The BCT Family Finding Service are passionate and ambitious about identifying suitable adoptive families and long term foster carers who can meet the needs of children with permanence plans. There are two dedicated Family Finding Teams with a commitment to being able to place Birmingham children locally with BCT approved families but we also work nationally with external Adoption and Fostering Agencies to avoid delay and to ensure we find the right matches for children.
You must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England; have experience of direct work with children, young people and their families within a children or family placement setting; have sound knowledge of Adoption and Fostering practice, research and theory, particularly in relation to matching, transitions and support; coupled with knowledge and understanding of the impact of complex early life experiences and background upon children’s needs.
As a Family Finding Social Worker you will work closely with the team around the child, to assess each child’s permanence and support needs. You will have a lead responsibility for coordinating and chairing professionals meetings to plan and progress children’s matches. This role includes working directly with the child and supporting relevant professionals and permanent carers to enable each child to have a successful transition to their new family.
