St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages.
This is a customer service role, working in St Albans Museum + Gallery. You will be part of a dynamic team, working in the front-of-house, gallery and shop areas. You will assist in ensuring all visitors have an enjoyable, educational and safe visit to the museum.
St Albans Museums runs several museum and heritage sites including Verulamium Museum and the 15th century Clock Tower, as well as St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre. You will be joining the Museums team at an exciting time as we build on our long-established history of welcoming customers in innovative and stimulating ways.
We have two part-time vacancies. One vacancy is for 29.25 hours per week and there are set days and hours of work which are Sunday to Thursday. The hours are 11am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 11am to 5.45pm on Sunday. Applicants must be able to work these same days every week, including the weekend day.
The other vacancy is for 11.5 hours per week, also with set days and hours of work which are Fridays and Saturdays. The hours are 11am to 5pm both days. Applicants must be able to work these same days every week, including the weekend day.
Please note that both vacancies are specifically for St Albans Museum + Gallery. These are permanent roles, not casual roles.
Candidates must excel at engaging with people and have previous face-to-face customer service experience. Ideally candidates will have retail experience too. We’re looking for team players who can deliver excellent visitor experiences and the highest level of customer service. Previous experience of working within a culture and heritage environment is preferable. You must be friendly, professional, able to thrive working directly with the public and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our customers have a fantastic visit.
