Take the next step in your career development as an EP

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The EPS sits within The Inclusion Service and enjoys an excellent reputation amongst our LA colleagues and within our schools and settings.  This year the service has lead on the delivery of the DFE’s Well-being Return to School Program and systemic support for the development of whole school approaches to well-being will be an ongoing feature of the Educational Psychologist Service’s offer to schools.

Brent’s new flexible working policy allows up to 4 days a week remote working and this is supported within the Educational Psychology Service.

The Post

The post will comprise the normal range of EP duties to include providing a service as a link EP to a group of schools and providing psychological advice and support to our SEN department.

There will be an opportunity to be involved in project work contributing to strategic priorities within the Children and Young People’s Department in Brent.  The EPS has oversight over the work of the Wellbeing and Emotional Support Team (WEST), which is a service commissioned from The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families by Brent Council.  We are now able to offer our EPs the opportunity to contribute to the work this service (e.g. for one day a week).  Training and supervision from the Anna Freud Centre will be offered to EPs interested in availing of this opportunity.

Those who are interested in working part-time will be welcome to apply.

The Person

We are keen to hear from qualified EPs or third year TEPs who would like to work in our friendly and experienced team.  We are looking for EPs who want to support schools through consultation and a range of ideas and approaches in respect of assessment and intervention in our schools and settings.

For an informal discussion about the post call the PEP on 02089372489 or email frank.glennon@brent.gov.uk

Closing Date: 23 January 2022 (23:00)
