We are looking to recruit an exceptional Highway Asset Manager to join our Highways & Engineering Service to help manage the continuous improvement of our highway and drainage asset, which includes strategic maintenance, highway asset status, enforcement and overseeing the discharging our responsibilities as Lead Local Flood Authority. This is a permanent role to be based in heart of Barnsley at our Smithies Lane Depot site.

 

Our Highway Asset Manager plays a pivotal role within our core Highway Asset Management team. Leading the team, you will have the unparalleled opportunity to take the strategic lead to improve the highway asset through utilising your skill and knowledge about highway and drainage maintenance, including highway asset status and enforcement.  The role also includes the management of several high-profile flood risk management schemes, with a chance to contribute to several current and emerging organisational strategies including strategic flood risk, climate change and the carbon agenda.

 

Alongside your interest in highway and drainage asset management and flood risk management, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

 

·       Extensive experience of civil engineering and asset management;

·       Robust project and financial management skills;

·       Experience of acting as technical lead for highway and drainage maintenance, including flood risk projects;

·       Experience of Preparation of Project Appraisal Reports;

·       Excellent communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders;

·       A track record of identifying, securing and delivering external funding opportunities;

·       Detailed working knowledge of local and national strategies, policies and legislation relevant to the area of work including health and safety.
