Waste and Recycling Supervisor
Location: Claymeadow Depot, Totton
Hours: 37 per week
New Forest District Council is looking to recruit a waste and recycling supervisor for our Claymeadow Depot in Totton.
Waste & recycling is the only council service to be delivered directly to the doors of our 82,000 households every week of the year. It is important that we get these services right in terms of standards and maintain a cost effective, safe service for our staff and residents.
The waste supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the waste and recycling collection service at the depot. This includes managing the operational staff to ensure that our essential frontline collection services are functioning at the highest standards.
You will need to be able to adapt to changing situations quickly and have strong people management skills. You may have to deal with issues such as vehicle breakdowns, staff shortages and problems associated with changing weather. You will need to be an excellent communicator dealing with both external customer enquiries and liaising with a number of internal departments.
The health, safety, and welfare of all our employees is vital. The waste supervisor’s job is to ensure that services are delivered in-line with council policies and procedures; and that our legislative responsibilities to collect our residents waste is fulfilled.
Now is an exciting time to join our team as the collection service we offer is currently under review. We know that in the future we will have to make changes to the things we collect, and the way we collect them. We are looking for someone that is interested in helping us improve our service to ensure that the New Forest can waste less and recycle more.
