About the role

East Sussex County Council’s (ESCC) ‘Steps to Success’ project is funded by the Careers and Enterprise Company through the Effective Transition Fund. The project will be delivered over a 2 year period, supporting 105 young people who are persistently absent from school and who qualify for free school meals (FSM), entering year 10 in September 2021, leaving year 11 in July 2023. The project will be part of wider national research to understand the benefits of holistic support and careers-related interventions.

The Project Coach will be based within the Youth Employability Service (YES), which is commissioned to CXK by ESCC. They will also be co-located with ESCC’s Careers Hub and ESBAS teams, and report to other local authority teams working with these young people, such as Early Help, YOT and Social Services. The role will support this group to access careers-related interventions and complete 6 goals each year (3 personal development to address barriers, 3 relating to post-16 progression), including undertaking a bespoke work experience placement organised by ESCC’s Work Experience team.

The role will work with these young people to identify and apply for education or training pathways post-16, supporting them over the summer term and to transition into their destinations in year 12 in 2023. The project will continue to track outcomes for these young people until March 2024 to understand the impact of the interventions provided.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact the Area Manager, Ryan Matthews on 01233 224244 or recruitment@cxk.org.
