About the role

This is an engagement programme for young people who were in alternative provision in Year 11 (2020/21 academic year) via a contract with the Sabden Multi Academy Trust. It builds on a successful pilot programme delivered for the 2019/20 cohort.

The programme targets young people in Year 12 (2021/22 academic year) who were studying at College Central or the Workplace previously but are NEET (not in education, employment, or training), or become NEET, in terms 1-3. It aims to support and build their confidence, motivation and life skills which will lead to a positive progression into EET. For those that are NEET, the iCan participation programme will be delivered alongside an accredited programme offering an NOCN Level 1 employability qualification, additional ‘life skills’ certificates and enrichment activities for those fully engaging.

The Coordinator will have the primary responsibility for liaising with advisers to identify which students are NEET and work with the students to produce portfolios of evidence for their qualification alongside intensive one-to-one support. The post will involve working with young people from vulnerable backgrounds, meeting targets around attainment rates, and tracking achievements and outcomes.

The post holder will be responsible for meeting all contractual requirements, quality standards, health and safety as well as taking responsibility for some of the additional admin related to the delivery. The Coordinator will be supported by lead advisers from the Youth Employability Service in supporting each eligible young person.
