Following an increase in workload in our food and safety team an exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a part time fixed term (one year) experienced principal food and safety officer.

You will provide a customer focussed approach to business regulation requirements across the District. The role involves the provision of expert advice, support and guidance to both existing and new businesses enforcing food safety and health and safety legislation in those businesses. You will also be expected to carry out reactive communicable disease control and complaint investigation work and to contribute to other areas of enforcement such as licensing, event work and environmental protection.

You will be an experienced food law enforcement officer with competency to inspect category A to E food businesses and be familiar with the approval process and holding registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).

There may be an opportunity for a less experienced officer to be recruited at the grade below if there are no suitable applications from experienced candidates.

You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to continuing professional development to deliver the duties of the post.

Please note that this role involves some work being carried out in a care home setting and as such it is a legal requirement that staff are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (unless medically exempt). If you are successful, a condition of employment will be that you are fully vaccinated.
