West Berkshire Council has successfully secured funding under the Rough Sleeper Initiative to end homelessness in West Berkshire. We are therefore looking to recruit a Rough Sleeping Outreach Officer with the skills to work closely with clients who are a rough sleeping.
The post will form part of the Housing Team and will work in partnership with all front line based teams in order to reduce rough sleeping. The service will offer a proactive and assertive approach to supporting people to move away from living on the streets permanently.
You will provide intensive support via assertive outreach to rough sleepers in the community whilst maintaining a ‘no second night out’ approach. Working collaboratively with partner agencies including health, substance misuse, criminal justice and voluntary service to manage a caseload of vulnerable clients.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly and creatively in order to meet the needs of the clients.
Experience of working with those who are homeless and/or rough sleeping will be viewed as an asset in this role.
