PLANNING DEVELOPMENT
HERITAGE ACTION ZONE PROJECT OFFICER

NS11 £32,234 - £33,782 per annum

Pay Award Pending

37 HOURS PER WEEK, 2 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT INITIALLY

Newark and Sherwood District Council secured funding from Historic England in 2020 to deliver a four year High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) in the attractive historic market town of Newark. The HSHAZ Programme is a national initiative led by Historic England, to be delivered in partnership with the local community. This exciting Programme includes shop front improvements, heritage at risk projects, a Council Tax/Business Rates review, and public realm feasibility work.

We are looking to recruit a suitable person to help deliver the remainder of the HSHAZ programme, working in partnership within a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll be the first point of contact of the Newark HSHAZ, monitoring and implementing the next two years of HSHAZ projects and championing heritage matters within the HSHAZ area.  You’ll need previous experience of working within the heritage sector and of managing and administering a grant funded programme; previous experience of partnership working is also essential, along with a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as architecture, planning, conservation or regeneration.  You’ll need superb organisational and communication skills and be able to establish, maintain and develop effective working relationships with a range of partners, statutory agencies and stakeholders.  Initially for 2 years, this contract has the possibility for extension if the project is successfully delivered and as part of our pro-active conservation agenda.

As part of the role you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of flexible working, a generous holiday allowance, discounted staff parking and gym membership and a very competitive occupational pension. We’re an ambitious, modern and forward thinking Council and we’re looking for somebody with the same values as ours to join us. We will also consider applications from people wanting to undertake job share.

For an informal chat about the role please contact Oliver Scott (oliver.scott@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk or 01636 655847).

Closing Date – 12:00 noon, Monday 17 January 2022.

Interviews – week commencing 31 January 2022.

Veterans/family of forces/ex-forces, those in care/care leavers, and candidates who declare a disability (as defined under the Equality Act 2010) will be guaranteed an interview provided they have demonstrated that they meet the essential criteria of the post as detailed in the Person Specification on their application form.
