An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Officers working together to create a Cleaner, Greener, Safer Wyre.

As part of a well-established Environment Enforcement Team, you will play a key role in delivering the Council’s commitment to tackling the crime and grime agenda including combatting flytipping, littering, fly-posting, graffiti, abandoned vehicles and dog related Public Space Protection orders which include addressing dog fouling issues, out of control and stray dogs, and assisting in associated environmental concerns. The role also includes monitoring key service contracts, and actively promoting waste minimisation and recycling initiatives.

The role requires you work predominantly on your own when responding to queries, leading on projects, but will occasionally link-up with other team members to engage with individuals and wider community groups to address the areas outlined above.

Environment Enforcement Officers undertake a range of Enforcement Activities including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices, investigating Environmental related incidents, creation of prosecution files (potentially attending court) and serving various other legal notices to crack down on those who do not adhere to Environmental Legislation or Public Space Protection Orders.

Wyre are keen to enhance this high profile service to ensure residents and businesses alike take ownership and assist us in tackling/resolving Environmental issues.

An Environment Enforcement Officer is also expected to engage with all stakeholders and promote responsible citizenship while encouraging everyone to ‘do their bit’.

A full UK driving licence is essential. The post is primarily mobile and will involve manual handling and rostered weekend working.
