About the role
Buzz Active is a part of the East Sussex County Council’s learning outside the classroom portfolio with three outdoor centres located on Eastbourne seafront, in the Cuckmere valley, near Seaford and at Bushy Wood Scout activity centre near Hailsham.
A Lead Senior instructor to support the Operations manager in the deployment of the instructional team are required for the upcoming 2022 season. Successful candidates will be experienced and competent in sailing and windsurfing using a range of equipment on tidal setting.
Our Eastbourne site is situated on Eastbourne seafront where we deploy activity on the sea in Eastbourne bay and on our sheltered boating lake adjacent to the centre.
This is a full-time fixed term contract for the 2022 season which commences March 14 to October 30 inclusive. A pattern of work will be established, however some flexibility will be required. This role requires weekend and evening working. Overtime hours will be available also.
Successful applicants will have at least two seasons experience as an RYA senior instructor, hold current RYA Senior instructor in Dinghy Sailing or Windsurfing with a supporting DI or WI certificate.
Desirable but not essential to the role is paddle sport coach (or equivalent) other desirable but not essential qualifications include Archery GB instructor, CWI or SPA awards, climbing and ropes experience, NSRA awards (Bushy Wood site) RYA powerboating.
Buzz Active can offer Continual Professional Development (CPD), with courses and training. We run in-house and externally provided instructor training courses. As a local authority centre a large part of our client base is Schools, Colleges, Universities, educational groups, community groups, as well as language schools. We offer a membership at both sites and are open to the general public for tuition and hire.
Daily duties will include the planning of the timetable on a daily basis, liaising with the operations manager. Leading the senior instructors at the site. Daily deployment of team for set up and delivery of courses and sessions for the applicable qualifications held> A core part of the site leads role mentoring instructional and coaching team, basic maintenance and upkeep of the equipment, assistance with hire concession. Liaising with Site leads, managers and administration staff strong administrative skills are required for this role. Candidates are expected to travel between sites at times.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
