West Lancashire lies at the heart of the North West of England, located within easy reach of major conurbations such as Manchester and Liverpool. The Borough has a growing economy, is home to a top-class University, and is a desirable place to live and work.
The Council is seeking to appoint two temporary Planning Officers. These are flexible posts, and the successful candidates may be required to work throughout the Growth and Development Service. The post holders will initially assist the Council's development management team, helping to provide professional expertise in dealing with a range of pre-application enquiries, planning applications and investigations into alleged breaches of planning control. The successful candidates will be flexible in approach and the posts would be suitable for self-motivated graduates or for experienced planning officers. Appointment on the pay spine will be subject to skills and experience.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to work effectively to deadlines and must be committed to providing high quality customer service. The successful candidates will be able to work from home but will be required to carry out regular site visits within the Borough and work in our Ormskirk office for at least one day.
We pride ourselves on being a good employer with a range of benefits and employment terms and conditions to suit you. You will be able to benefit from competitive salaries on an incremental scheme, flexible working, LGPS pension scheme, family friendly policies and healthcare insurance.
