Hertfordshire County Council is looking to appoint an independent member to join its Audit Committee. Being a member of the Audit Committee is an important responsibility and you will play a part in making sure Hertfordshire continues to be the county of opportunity.

You will also help to reinforce the Audit Committee’s political neutrality and independence and maintain continuity of Committee membership where this is affected by the electoral cycle.
The Audit Committee plays an important role in providing independent oversight, advice and guidance on the Council's financial reporting, governance, risk management, internal control and values and ethics arrangements and practices. This oversight mechanism also serves to provide confidence in the integrity of these practices. In doing this, the Audit Committee plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of services to the community.

The Audit Committee normally meets in person five times a year in May, July, September, December, and March, with meetings lasting between two and three hours.
