About the role

Appointment of an Independent Chair for the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP)

We are an established and successful children’s safeguarding partnership with engaged and committed safeguarding leads who prioritise positive outcomes for children and families across East Sussex. The 2020 Joint Targeted Area Inspection (JTAI) concluded that the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP) is a ‘highly effective Safeguarding Children Partnership’.

We are seeking an exceptional Independent Chair to provide effective leadership, challenge and scrutiny for the partnership. You will act as a constructive critical friend and provide independent and objective scrutiny of our multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.

We are looking for a person with outstanding leadership, partnership and communication skills at a senior level to chair the ESSCP effectively. You will need substantial experience of the safeguarding agenda both at an operational and strategic level and have the ability and credibility to command respect across all agencies.

This appointment is on a consultancy basis, and it is anticipated that the role will require a maximum of 30 days per year, which will be paid at £600 per day, inclusive of any travel costs.
