About the role

Do you relish a challenge? Are you highly organised, outgoing and able to inspire colleagues? Do you have the knowledge and confidence to evangelise the adoption of Tableau to help put data at the heart of public service planning at East Sussex County Council? If so, then we want to hear from you!

We are looking for a motivated, forward-thinking person to help deliver the vision for data informed insights at East Sussex County Council. This role is a mix of Tableau evangelist, project manager and business analyst. It will involve internal stakeholder engagement and technology supplier management.

Our implementation of Tableau software and the associated support of a growing internal user community is a key foundation to support the distributed performance, insight and research capabilities within the council. Advanced experience of Tableau or very similar, transferable package is essential.

As a member of the IT & Digital Information Management Team, you will contribute to the delivery of the team’s work programme – helping to drive change through improvements in data literacy and culture within the wider organisation. The adoption of a self-service analytics approach will underpin this programme.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Significant skill and confidence with Tableau or the ability to transfer from a similar BI package.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Excellent negotiating skills, ability to influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders;
  • The ability to work effectively, with a high degree of autonomy if required; and
  • The confidence to challenge the status quo and develop creative solutions to complex problems.

The post is advertised as full time (37 hours over five days a week).  However, job-share applications and other flexible working needs will happily be considered.  The contractual base for the post is County Hall, Lewes but for a hybrid work pattern will be the norm.  A laptop and mobile phone will be provided with the role.
