A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced children’s senior social worker to join our specialist Fostering Support Team. Our service within Birmingham Children’s Trust supports placements for children and young people who are cared for by an approved foster carer.
We have dedicated passionate social work team, led by experienced managers that support, advise and supervise all approved foster carers. Our aim is to ensure all children to achieve the most positive outcomes. The child’s voice is important to us and at the heart of our approach. With the collaborative approach from foster carers and the team around the child on their journey to embed and empower an improved life. The matching of our children with foster carers is important to us to ensure every child’s or young persons’s emotional, developmental, health and educational needs can be met.
As a passionate and experienced professional, you will be responsible managing your own workload and work completed within your social work team; this will include completing yearly annual foster care placement reviews, 5/6 weekly supervisions with foster carers, providing practical advice and support to carers, attending child in care reviews, PEP meetings, collate information regarding Sch.6 and voice of the child. The successful applicants must be focused and driven to make a positive difference and achieve change for the children we work with.
You will be provided with a supportive team environment where you will have access to the right tools, equipment and resources required to undertake your role. You will receive regular supervision and a comprehensive training programme which will support your career development.
You will have be an active registered social worker with a proven track record in children services experience and background.
You will have extensive knowledge and an understanding of children’s legislation and processes particularly in fostering, coupled with the application and understanding of the permanency needs of children from complex and diverse backgrounds.
You will also have strong administration and IT skills, as your time will be split between office-based tasks and work in the community visiting fostering households.
Key effective communication and positive relationship skills are essential, as well as clear concise report writing and record keeping in a timely accurate manner, applying your time management and organisational skills.
The ability to work effectively with colleagues and other agencies; solve problems, negotiate and make decisions.
