Do you want to produce evidence-based insights to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Kent? We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is dedicated to using information to inform Public Health decision-making. In the Kent Public Health Observatory, you will be provided with support and development opportunities to excel in your career.
The role is about making complex information understandable and accessible to others. We tailor our outputs to the needs of the project, and ultimately the intended audience. This involves performing a mixture of data processing, technical calculations, report writing and presentation of results. We want to innovate and improve and require your help to achieve this. For example, the team is moving towards creating reproducible analysis using programming languages such as R and Python.
As a senior analyst, you will be responsible for leading projects within our team from the planning stage to sharing results and explaining the findings. This post requires a proactive attitude to problem solving and a calm approach to working under pressure. You will relish working collaboratively with colleagues in the council, local NHS, and partner organisations. Using your knowledge of epidemiology, statistics, and public health datasets, you will influence the development of projects to maximum effect. In addition, you will be responsible for line managing two members of the team, guiding their personal development.
We provide a comprehensive training offer and encourage a supportive learning environment to share knowledge between team members. We offer flexible working and are currently transitioning to a hybrid working model. Please note that you will be expected to work from our Maidstone office as required.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
