About the role

Buxted is a forward-looking rural Church of England primary school. We're a committed, friendly staff team and we're looking for an Individual Needs Assistant to join our school community.

You'll be providing support for a friendly, engaging year 5 child with special educational needs to help them flourish and succeed here in the school.

We need someone who is:
- Compassionate and caring, patient and intuitive with a good sense of fun.
- Able to adapt learning tasks to suit the child they're working with.
- Able to run small group activities from time to time.
- Willing to do some real-life learning activities.
- Happy to follow the lead of the teacher but able to recognise the unique needs of the child.
- Able to read advice from outside agencies and put it into practice in the classroom and in individual sessions.
- Able to engage warmly and confidently with parents.
- Prepared to support with personal care as required

Experience of working with children with additional needs is preferred, but showing a willingness to develop your knowledge and being happy to support the class teacher with the development of a suitable programme of work for the child will be viewed very positively.
The role is for 26 hours INA + 5hrs MDSA term time.

Applicants will also need to participate in whole school activities and to support the daily work and ethos of a Church of England Primary School.
If you're successful, you'll be working with a supportive, friendly and inclusive team who enjoy the uniquely rewarding challenges and opportunities that teaching has to offer.
