If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

About the role

Chailey is a thriving, successful school set in rural Sussex, just north of Lewes, and within easy reach of Brighton.  We are proud of our traditional values and innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning.  Staff are friendly, dedicated and supportive; our students are happy and proud to be part of the school.

Chailey is a school where teachers and students can thrive. Visitors to Chailey School often comment on the calm teaching environment and fantastic relationships between students and teachers. We are seeking a talented, innovative colleague who would be keen to work with motivated and responsive young people. You may be just starting out on your teaching journey or more experienced – we would like to speak to you and would welcome you visiting us informally to see our school at work.

Chailey School is known to be an incredibly caring, friendly and nurturing school where the outstanding relationships between students and staff bring out the best in everyone, as noted by Ofsted in January 2017.

‘’You have built on the established culture and ethos of the school, which is enhanced by the strong relationships between staff and pupils. Staff know their pupils very well and help them to grow in confidence while developing their knowledge and understanding. As a result, pupils make good, and sometimes better, progress. Pupils appreciate what staff do for them and, therefore, their conduct is typically exemplary, both in lessons and around the school. Pupils are encouraged to have high aspirations’’ (Ofsted 2017)

There is though, much more to Chailey School.

The PE Department at Chailey School is very successful and you will be joining a friendly and supportive team of teachers.  We believe that Physical Education is about more than traditional school games and adapt our activities accordingly. Our PE Team work hard to ensure a good range of extra-curricular provision.

We are seeking to cover a paternity leave.  Although the position is advertised as full time, we are flexible and are happy to receive applications for part time hours.

If you have a strong desire to help students of all abilities to achieve the best they can, whilst fulfilling your own potential, then we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Further details are set out in the application pack on our website (www.chaileyschool.org) or please contact Gemma Butler, Personal Assistant to the Head Teacher, at the school address shown or email: gbutler@chaileyschool.org.  For an informal school visit lease contact us to arrange a suitable time and date.
