Maintenance Technician

Lancaster City Council owns and manages some of the most prestigious and historically important properties in Lancaster and Morecambe. We require a temporary Maintenance Technician to support the small team who keep these buildings safe and functioning for our staff, tenants, and visitors. 

Duties include:

- hands on repairs, such as lock changes, basic plumbing, minor decorations etc,

- fault finding and recommending repairs solutions

- meeting trades contractors to obtain advice and quotes or provide access

- undertaking building safety checks, such as fire alarm tests 

Much of the work is reactive and no two days are the same. You will plan your own time, with guidance and support from a close-knit team. A strong set of DIY skills are necessary, and preferably experience in similar work, but self-motivation, organisation and problem solving are equally important in this role. 

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to travel to various premises each day. A works van will be provided. 

This post is temporary for 6 months. The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. 

The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm. 

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service. You will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. 

You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work.
