At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity, and exploring new ways of working.

Our long-term vision for the Borough tells us where we want to be and how we’re going to get there. This role will support delivering our vision and the aspirations of local people, as well as driving forward key deliverables from our Four Year and Recovery Plans.

The focus of this role is to support the implementation of effective governance and assurance within the Council as part of a small team. With an emphasis on internal audit, risk management, policy, and project management. This role will work at a high level with senior officers across the Council. You will play a key role in developing and implementing performance management and risk. The role will assist with setting the Four-Year Plan and Annual Plans.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with evidence of research and report writing skills. You will need to demonstrate you can build and maintain effective relationships and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. You should have strong communication and research skills as well as knowledge of best practice and relevant legislation.

Experience of contributing to policy, strategy formulation and developing performance management will be essential to this post. You must have a sound understanding and experience of risk management and assurance, preferably in a local authority environment.

In return you will benefit from 24 days annual leave (rising to 29 after 5 years’ service), subsidised gym membership and car parking, payment of professional fees, entitlement to join the local government pension scheme, and non-contributory life assurance.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and committed team and we look forward to receiving your application. For further details contact Gillian McTaggart on 01372 732224.
