In Housing Needs and Standards we provide a range of housing services, including housing applications, advice and options. We are committed to meaningful joint working, the prevention of homelessness and continuous improvement in our services. 

A dynamic self-starter is required to support our Housing Needs team. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will responsible for managing placements in emergency and temporary accommodation across Eastbourne and Lewes.

You will act as the single point of contact for temporary accommodation casework. You will be responsible for coordinating new and existing placements, working with Housing Needs Staff and private sector landlords to meet the needs of those placed into emergency accommodation by the council, including addressing incidents as they arise and ending placements.

You will report on numbers in emergency accommodation against our corporate targets and ensure the needs of our customers are met.

You must have proven experience of successful multi-agency working in a housing or homelessness setting, or experience in letting and property management, and an excellent comprehension of the complex needs of homeless clients, as well as the challenges this presents to agencies who work with them.

This is a fast-paced, varied and challenging environment supporting clients with a range of multiple and complex needs. You will be well organised with excellent communication skills and have a strong commitment to providing service excellence. Experience of multi-agency working in a housing or homelessness setting, or experience in letting and property management is preferable, also is an excellent comprehension of the needs of homeless clients, as well as the challenges this presents to agencies who work with them.

Although the Housing Needs and Standards team work predominantly from home, the Hours and days may vary according to the needs of the service and you will need to be able to travel to various properties across East Sussex including Eastbourne, Lewe Newhaven and Seaford.

We work across both Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council and as a result our area is unique in its mix of environments, including the larger urban area of Eastbourne, the historic county town of Lewes, small towns and villages in and around the National Park and a large area of coastal strip.
