Part time – 18.5 hours per week
Focus House is a well-established residential Supported Living unit for 14 men and women with mental health needs, situated close to Reading town centre. The service is also responsible for two unstaffed group homes in the local community plus floating support for people recently moved on from Focus House into their own accommodation.
Our aim is to provide high quality support to our service users regardless of gender, race, religion, disability or sexual orientation.
We support individuals to achieve and meet their everyday living needs e.g. support with shopping, cooking, personal hygiene, medication administration, budgeting, attending appointments and therapeutic activities, improving coping strategies, interpersonal skills, decision-making skills, etc.
We provide residents with opportunities to develop independence, build positive relationships and be empowered to make informed choices, within a person-centred approach.
The post holder will be expected to work within a care team and contribute to all team daily duties as required. The post holder will report to the Unit Manager/Deputy Unit Manager and be responsible for the planning and implementation of individual support plans and reviews in collaboration with the service user as part of recovery model.
Hours will be worked on a rota basis to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will be required to undertake occasional sleep-in duties (minimum once a week).
Excellent client care and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of the principles of good practice in residential care and an understanding of some of the issues affecting people with mental health needs. Full induction and training will be provided.
