Barnsley’s markets are a key contributor to the borough’s economy. Barnsley Council operates outdoor markets in Barnsley, Hoyland, Goldthorpe, Wombwell, and Penistone, and the indoor market and food hall, Market Kitchen, in the town centre.
COVID-19 has impacted on the markets and it is crucial that our independent businesses are supported to operate safely giving confidence to customers old and new. This is an opportunity to be at the centre of Barnsley Council’s recovery programme.
A crucial element of your role is to support businesses to recover and grow, encouraging participation in several economic recovery projects delivered by the council. Your role will connect you to other service providers and partners to ensure business owners have the tools, knowledge, and skills to grow their businesses.
This is a fixed term opportunity. To join us you’ll need a relevant level 4 qualification and/or evidence in a related field. You will need to evidence that you have a track record of effectively supporting the delivery of regeneration programmes.
Resilient, able to ‘get things done’ and a natural collaborator, it is your talent for communication that really sets you apart.
This post is part of a Prioritised Recovery Project, part of a £2 million economic investment, funded by Barnsley Council and Sheffield City Region. As part of Barnsley’s Economic Recovery Action Plan, these projects will help the local economy bounce back from Covid.
The programme aims to support people, businesses, traders, charities, or community organisations to safeguard existing jobs as well as creating new jobs and businesses.
