About the role

We are looking for a Principal Strategic Planner to join our positive and engaging team where you will have the opportunity to make a difference and see the impact of your work. In this pivotal role, you will have an appropriate level of knowledge and experience in planning (or working towards qualification) to support the integrated delivery of the strategic planning function within the new Infrastructure Planning and Place team and wider service. In doing so, you will co-ordinate and evaluate the ongoing evidence gathering, analysis and planning of the county’s infrastructure needs to support the local planning authorities in the development of their emerging Local Plans, as well as our input into the development of local communities’ neighbourhood plans. The delivery of county council infrastructure is integral to delivering the council’s priority of sustainable economic growth in the county. With a estimated £40m of development contributions available, you will manage the use of this funding with internal partners from across the authority to ensure they are allocated appropriately to deliver county council infrastructure through our capital programme. You will also engage with our Borough and District Council’s to ensure the timely transfer of this funding and on their Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds received from development, working internally to support the development of business cases to secure CIL funding to deliver county council infrastructure. In addition, you will manage our responses to planning applications on county council infrastructure requirements.
