This is a fantastic opportunity to join our high profile, well-respected and friendly Strategy, Policy and Performance unit in the role of Policy and Projects Officer, working to meet the needs of a changing and ambitious council and supporting the development and delivery of effective policies and strategies to help drive achievement of our corporate priorities. This is an exciting time to join the organisation, as the Council resets its priorities following the pandemic, and the team is expanded and strengthened. There are two openings in the team in this role.
As a Policy and Projects Officer you will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of effective policies and strategies to help drive achievement of our corporate priorities and goals. You’ll develop a role as a trusted adviser, embedding an evidence-based approach to decision-making and developing new and developing new and innovative policy proposals which support the improvement and transformation of service-delivery.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have a broad knowledge of current issues affecting local government, and have a successful record of delivering projects and driving progress against agreed objectives. You will have proven experience of handling, interpreting and using complex or technical information or data effectively, and be experienced in research and the presentation of evidence-based recommendations to support the design of new and innovative policy and actions.
The ability to think and act independently, proactively and with consideration for the bigger picture is a must. And with excellent communication skills, you will have demonstrable experience of establishing and building productive working relationships across different levels and with a wide range of stakeholders.
The Council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, this is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the west of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead in 2022.
The Council operates a flexible system in relation to remote working arrangements however for this post there is an expectation of working in the office at least one day a week, and according to the needs of the business.
