Russets is a purpose built service in Hilsea that provides respite care for adults who have learning disabilities and live within the area of Portsmouth. In addition to this Russets also provide adults with a learning disability with residential accommodation. Russets is the only unit of its kind in Portsmouth. We currently have a vacancy for our Respite and Residential service.

Your New Role
You will manage a set budget and produce nutritionally based meals, including special dietary requirements. You will plan and produce a varied and exciting menu to meet the requirements of the residents. You will also be responsible for ordering stock and dealing with suppliers. You will be responsible for the overall health and safety in the kitchen as well as ensuring that all kitchen records are kept up to date, including details of menus, budgets and health and safety checks.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will have an advanced qualification in catering, for example, City and Guilds 701/702 and a basic food hygiene certificate (or working towards a suitable qualification). You will also have a good knowledge of food and nutrition, including a good range of special dietary requirements and be able to plan menus to reflect this.
You will have good interpersonal and communication skills and be flexible and able to adapt to changing workloads of the team and requirements of the unit. You will have the ability to organise and lead kitchen staff. You will also have an understanding of the policy regarding safeguarding vulnerable people.
