Job Requirements

Mobile Cook – based in a designated kitchen, the successful candidate will work predominantly in the Southport, Ainsdale and Formby areas. The role is varied dependent upon demand.

The successful applicant may be acting up for a Cook in Charge where they will be involved in all aspects of managing a kitchen and preparing lunches or filling in within a kitchen team where absences occur. The person therefore needs to be flexible, adaptable and prepared to embrace every role.

There will be the opportunity to work overtime and receive acting up allowance if covering certain posts.

Applicants for this post need to be suitably qualified or prepared to attend college to gain the necessary qualifications. Training will also be given during an induction period before taking on the role in full.

We are looking for applicants who will be able to promote and develop the service, maintain an excellent standard of food quality and kitchen hygiene and be able to meet the requirements of the children, schools and parents.

Schools take a keen interest in the catering operation and work closely with our kitchen teams to create a nurturing and innovative lunchtime service. Our staff work closely with the schools on other activities that will further promote the service and increase meal numbers, so we are also looking for excellent communication skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to make a real difference to the children who use our service.

Due to the nature of the work, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful candidate must be able to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure (via the Disclosure & Barring Service DBS) in order to be appointed to the post.
