Location: Flexible working arrangements; we are majority working from home, but some travelling between Havering Town Hall and Newham Dockside could be required
About Us: We are currently recruiting an ambitious individual for the senior role of IT Cyber Security Manager in the one source IT shared service team, which is dedicated to excellence by delivering a first-class professional ‘business critical’ service to our partner authorities. At one source we are keen to add resilience, and develop effective IT Security compliance and strategies to protect and support the objectives of our partner authorities. You will be at the centre of designing and implementing new IT security systems, controls and procedures where you can stamp your mark in delivering a professional IT service, gain sector recognition and promote the one source brand. In return we will support your development to give you the necessary skills and knowledge backed up with a friendly and supportive team. Our partner authorities have exciting, ambitious and complex programmes and IT security challenges, which require innovative smart solutions.
About The Job: The role of the Information Cyber Security Manager is to lead and manage IT cyber security risks and to act as the responsible officer for IT cyber risk management and responding to audits. The Information Cyber Security Manager will need to lead and provide expert advice on the selection, design, justification, implementation and operation of information security controls, and management strategies to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems. The Information Cyber Security Manager should inspire creativity and flexibility in the management and application of information management and IT, supporting our ambitions to be a more agile and flexible organisation. The Information Cyber Security Manager will provide effective management that will contribute to our continuous improvement, actively leading and contributing to council-wide and service initiatives to meet objectives and user needs.
About You: You have led, promoted and assisted in the implementation, where practicable, of procedures designed to attain compliance of the ISO27001 (BS7799), ISO20000 (ITIL), Payment card Industry Standard, Public Sector Network Sector, Cyber Security Plus and other relevant ICT standards. You will have an information security qualification, for example, postgraduate certificate/diploma in information security, CISMP or CISSP, or an SSCP or CAP with equivalent demonstrable experience at a management level. You have applied ‘standard’ IT security techniques and architectures to mitigate IT security risks and developed new architectures that mitigate the risks posed by new technologies and business practices. You have looked for opportunities to create effective change and suggested innovative ideas for improvement. You have reviewed ways of working, including seeking and providing feedback. You have the skills to lead and analyse the results of investigations into complex, or highly sensitive security violations, and determine any variations to standards and their implementation. Your excellent communication skills will be essential to your success in your ability to work as part of the team and develop effective working relationships.
