Transformation Officer

Transformation and Communications

NS11 £32,234 - £33,782 (pay award pending)

Newark, Nottinghamshire

NSDC is situated in the historic market town of Newark, in the heart of Nottinghamshire. We’re proud of our vast district and our national attractions including The National Civil War Centre, the Castle, Southwell Minster and Sherwood Forest.  We’re easily accessible by both road and rail and we boast some of the nicest parks and green spaces in England.  We’re an ambitious, forward thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our residents.

The Transformation team at Newark and Sherwood District Council (NSDC) is a hardworking, fast-paced and diverse team covering project management, policy development, organisational development and workplace culture (including some in-house training), performance, data analysis, customer engagement and consultation and climate!

As a Transformation Officer, your days will be varied and you will get to know people from across the organisation working on a range of topics including, but not limited to;

  • Customer engagement such as coordinating consultation and mystery shopping with our Resident Panel, and leading on district wide consultation which informs our Community Plan. You will be expected to design the consultation, analyse the results, draw meaningful conclusions, report to Members (elected Councillors) and ensure these conclusions are converted into actions.
  • You will play a key role in developing NSDC as an organisation; from training staff on report writing and project management to helping embed our corporate culture through working strategies and our workplace culture agenda which includes staff surveys, an annual thank-you week and staff roadshows.
  • You will also be expected to project manage transformation projects. We work with teams from across the organisation to deliver transformational change whether that is a commercial project or a service change in response to customer feedback. You will need to confidently coordinate projects, monitor spend, manage risk and regularly report to senior leadership and, where appropriate, members. A few things I have been involved in the last year are the redesign of our website, developing a Workforce Strategy and coordinating the reshape of our Governance structure.
  • You will also support key reviews. A review may be triggered by poor performance or an emerging issue and it will be your role to investigate the issue looking at data and customer feedback before working with colleagues from across the organisation to present options to the member review group. You will facilitate the working groups providing a discussion document or presentation and work with the chair to enable debate as well as the creation of a set of recommendations.

In this role, you will be expected to keep a few plates spinning and always keep the resident at the centre of everything you do. In return however, you will be part of a small, friendly and dedicated team working in a non-profit organisation that is focused on serving residents.

We are looking for output focussed people who enjoy problem solving and ‘getting things done’. You will have demonstrable experience of leading or coordinating projects to completion, undertaking customer engagement and leading / facilitating workshops. You will thrive in a busy environment and will be skilled at prioritising and organising your time effectively. You will also be educated to level 3, or above, and hold a project management qualification or be willing to work towards one.

To find out more, check out the Job Description or give me a call on 01636 655279. NSDC is a great place to work; our staff are dedicated and value-orientated, and we have a strong sense of team (plus great annual leave and flexi-leave which helps)!

Good luck and I will see you at the interview on Monday 8 or Thursday 11 November 2021.

There will also be an online assessment to complete prior to interview and details will be sent out if you are shortlisted.

Thank you,

Kind regards,

Ella
