You can’t help but notice that Barnsley Town Centre has been going through a huge programme of transformation which has seen a revamped metropolitan centre and market hall, a new town square and central library and new car parking. The scale of the redevelopment is significant and exciting and will help shape a Better Barnsley.
We recognise that our principal district town centres also play a significant role in the future of Barnsley and in many ways are just as important to people who live locally. That’s why we’ve invested in a £5m programme of investment running to March 2023 to help our district town centres grow and thrive.
To assist in achieving the delivery of this programme we are recruiting a Business Support Officer.
What the role will entail:
Co-ordinate and provide technical business support to a range of statutory and strategic boards and sub groups where emotive, sensitive and confidential content is a regular feature, accurately recording board decisions, producing board minutes/action schedules at speed and directly onto mobile IT devices.
Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including managers, employees and members of the public, obtain relevant reports and key messages from agencies for timely submission to Boards, and ensure information and communication links are maintained.
Organise and co-ordinate meetings, diaries and appointments, ensuring schedules and venues are appropriate for attendees.
Ensure effective prioritisation of queries, responding to the urgent nature of particular information.
Deal sensitively with telephone and face to face enquiries providing appropriate advice and guidance to customers as required.
