The starting salary for this role is £13.20 per hour, plus annual leave allowance. This is a bank contract.
We are looking for people to join our bank of casual staff to work with our permanent record takers for child protection conferences. In this role you will make detailed notes of these meetings, chaired by Independent Chairs, at a variety of locations throughout Surrey. As a bank Administrator you will wok within the Children, Families & Learning Business Support Team.
The Children, Schools and Families Directorate provides a range of specialist services to children and young people. Much of this work requires closer working with key stakeholders (parents/ carers, schools, health services, police & voluntary organisations).
Your primary focus as a Bank Child Protection Administrator, will be to provide clear, concise and timely records at various Child Protection conferences and other highly confidential meetings across Surrey, within the timelines set by the Surrey Safeguarding Board.
You will prepare for meetings by reading background information to accurately interpret events, whilst sending follow up correspondence and collating all contributions for the conference outcome report.
Alongside minute-taking responsibilities, you will take on a range of administrative tasks, using your knowledge of general office routines and procedures, whilst displaying a broad understanding of the department and how tasks directly support the service/ teams.
You will be expected to use your initiative, prioritising workloads on both a day-to-day and week-by-week basis, responding to clear deadlines or processes. Although a background in Child Protection is not essential, we would definitely be looking for you to be able to prove your ability in note-taking and maintaining composure whilst recording details in difficult meetings.
As the Child Protection meetings are based across Surrey, it is necessary that you have a full driving licence and use of a car. Currently meetings are being held virtually using MS Teams, but will be returning to office bases.
You will be given a comprehensive induction to introduce you to this specialised and highly confidential area of work. Equipment is provided and travel costs reimbursed, as you'll need to travel to venues throughout the county.
To be shortlisted for this position, you must clearly evidence the following in your personal statement:
- Experience in minute taking
- Competency within Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- Ability to work with others to improve customer service
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent administrative/ organisational skills
- Able to prioritise and plan own workload by using initiative
- A methodical approach to information gathering, recording and reporting
