Lancaster City Council are pleased to offer a three-month opportunity (with the possibility of extension to six months) for an experienced individual to be able to champion older persons lettings in the Lancaster District looking to develop their career within the social housing sector. You should have a successful track record in Lettings and believe passionately in delivering an excellent customer service. You must enjoy dealing with a variety of people, particularly those over the age of 55, as the role involves meeting new customers on a regular basis. You must be target driven, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment whilst dealing with all our customers in an individual manner.
Lancaster City Council manages over 800 older person living properties and we are now seeking a successful applicant to be responsible for the lettings process of these properties from start to end, ensuring there is an efficient and effective liaison between all stakeholders e.g. the Housing Options team, the Tenancy and Estate Management team, the Repairs and Maintenance service, tenants and sub-contractors to achieve and minimise void turn-round times, whilst at the same time striving to improving the customer experience.
Another essential part of the role will be to establish and maintain effective void management processes, formulating and managing procedures to drive down re-let times relevant to our older person stock.

The hours of work are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. This post is ordinarily based at Morecambe Town Hall, however in line with current working practices, the provision of home working is available. The post holder will also be required to be available to work from any of the other Council offices including the Housing One Stop Shop in Lancaster and other customer hubs within the District.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
For internal applicants, this role can be a secondment opportunity. When this role comes to an end, a successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit properties and carry out site visits around the District. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability. As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
