About the role
Opportunities for Residential Child Care Workers to work in Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home based in Hailsham. Lansdowne is a welfare only secure children’s home caring for some of the most vulnerable and at risk children from across the U.K. We need experienced child care workers who are able to deliver high quality care to meet the physical, emotional and developmental needs of this group of children. Currently rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, they noted that ‘for children moving into the home, placing authorities have been equally positive about the planning, communication and the quality of care the children are receiving in the home’.
So, if you are passionate, resilient, nurturing and committed to working with adolescent children and making a difference then we want to hear from you. You will have experience of working directly with children and can demonstrate a good understanding of childcare and child development, with excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Our children can be challenging and we require staff who understand trauma and can work with a nurturing approach with the ability to listen to the child and act on their behalf.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team from a diversity of backgrounds who reflect the diversity of the children that we care for. We are currently under represented by male staff and would welcome applications from male candidates. The successful candidates will be expected to complete QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare within 2 years and they will have access to an excellent training package and professional supervision, as well as a career pathway as opportunities arise.
The post includes the expectation of shift work, weekend working and occasional overnight sleep-ins for which additional payments will apply.
This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
