We have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Minimisation and Enforcement Officer to join our busy Recycling and Waste Team. We are a high performing authority that delivers a broad range of statutory and non-statutory functions for the benefit of those that live, work and visit North Somerset.
As a Waste Minimisation and Enforcement Officer you will be responsible for driving waste minimisation, reuse and recycling within North Somerset through working with partners, community organisations, schools and service providers. You will also assist and lead on projects to engage with residents and businesses to improve the local area and tackle issues such as mis-presentation of waste (excess waste, double bins etc), vehicles blocking access for waste collections and other work with the wider Environment and Enforcement Team.
The ideal candidate will have experience of engaging with members of the public, practical experience carrying out an enforcement type role, tackling and resolving difficult issues and knowledge of relevant legislation.
The post holder will be required to become an accredited officer under the police Community Safety Accreditation Scheme and will need to pass the police vetting process.
Please be aware this role is on a career grade. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will start on JG5 and move up the salary grades through an internal interview process.
For an informal discussion, please contact Chris Clarke, Waste Minimisation and Enforcement Manager on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anticipated interview date: Friday 29 October 2021
