Working within the Corporate Services Directorate, we are looking to appoint a Corporate Engagement and Communications Team Leader to help drive forward the key priorities of our Corporate Strategy and act as the Council’s lead officer on engagement, consultation and communications.
In the new role you will be managing the day to day activities and development of the Communications team and working closely with service areas on specific communication and engagement activities which support service transformation and promote our Corporate Strategy.
Your job role will include developing and improving the councils’ engagement and consultation system as well as providing a proactive and reactive media service,; developing positive relationships with the community, media and other stakeholders.
You will design, develop and implement a new corporate communications plan to support the delivery of the Corporate strategy and lead on engagement, consultation and marketing activities across the Council.
Making sure our Senior Leadership Team are supported will be key. As the professional lead in this are of activity you will as conducting relevant research and evaluating the impact of engagement and consultation to help deliver service improvement.
Your skills and experience will include:
Being a motivated, self-starter with an analytical mind and outstanding organisational skills, who can communicate and engage effectively with a wide range of audiences.
You will be confident when working alone with minimal supervision, but enjoy and understand the importance of collaboration and teamwork.
Over your career, you will have developed a thorough understanding of engagement, communication and consultation processes and be capable of applying appropriate methodologies.
You will have the skills required to lead, manage and develop your team as well as being an excellent communicator, capable of delivering complex, often politically sensitive information through written, digital and verbal methods to a variety of audiences.
You will have gained experience of coordinating and managing projects and delivering community engagement activities.
You will be customer focussed and will understand the importance and value of customer care, customer engagement and customer inclusion.
You will have experience of Digital Transformation and be capable of engaging effectively through the full gamut of digital and Social Media platforms.
