About the role

We are looking for a number of enthusiastic and committed classroom teachers to be part of an exciting new special school being built in Hailsham, East Sussex. We have opportunities for both immediate starts and starts in January 2022, and possibly April 2022.

Opened in September 2020, The Ropemakers' Academy is a school for up to eighty children aged between 4 and 16 with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. The school is part of The Beckmead Trust, who have a proven record of providing outstanding care and support for a range of children with Special Educational Needs.

You will be part of a team resolutely dedicated to providing the very best education for our pupils using your natural caring and nurturing ethos to allow them to feel safe, valued and trusted. As a result of their needs, some of our pupils may present with challenging emotional responses, and so you will need to be reflective, adaptive and resilient. However, in return you will enjoy being able to deliver a unique and exciting curriculum, engage your pupils in a range of enrichment activities, and have a direct involvement in the development of this incredible, new school.

If this is you, then in return we will provide you an excellent and unique opportunity to be part of an organisation where you will work in a brand new building, purpose built to serve the needs of all members of our community. We can also offer you a comprehensive CPD package that will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge, whilst being part of a genuinely collaborative team where you will have direct influence and involvement in the evolution of our school and the provision we deliver. We will value your professional judgement and expertise throughout.

In the first instance, it would be a good idea to come and see the school, meet some of our amazing team, and have an informal chat with the Headteacher, Simon Hawthorne, to learn a little more about the passion we have for our young people, and the approaches we take to support them

To organise a visit, get some more details or request an application pack, please contact recruitment1@beckmeadtrust.org
