Working pattern: Part-time, Term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 5.85 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service)

About the role
Cross in Hand is a happy and successful Church of England Primary School in Heathfield, East Sussex. We have genuinely lovely children, supportive parents and a great team of staff.
We are looking for an Individual Needs Assistant to support one our children. The working hours for this role are 13:00 - 15.10 Wednesdays and 8:45 - 15:10 Thursday and Friday.
Previous experience of working with children with autism or speech and language needs , and a knowledge of effective strategies for supporting these children in the school environment, would be an advantage.
The successful applicant must have good communication skills and behaviour management skills and work well as part of a flexible team. They will be responsible for supporting an individual child in the classroom environment. They must be enthusiastic, patient and compassionate.
Being an Individual Needs Assistant in our school can include:
• Working individually with a student who requires additional support
• Assessing, monitoring and giving feedback to the student, offering encouragement and motivation to succeed
• Supporting the student both inside and outside of the classroom as well as accompanying them on educational visits
• Being in class supporting the student to make academic progress
• Helping to facilitate inclusion and enable them to integrate with their peers
• Attending meetings with parents, other professionals and a lead member of staff
• Meeting student’s physical and medical needs while encouraging independence e.g. help student to change for PE lessons, clean and reassure student after accidental soiling of clothes (including changing pull-ups where necessary), overseeing the management of medical devices
• Being actively involved in the sharing of good practice to ensure the student can access the full curriculum
