This is a key leadership role within our Business Services Directorate and will oversee the organisation’s Business Development, Strategic Commissioning and Procurement functions.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced leader who is inspired to use their experience and knowledge to help us improve outcomes for children and young people. The successful candidate will drive our business development and commissioning strategies. You will be supported by a team of procurement and business development professionals and use your expertise and enthusiasm to support the organisation to define priorities and turn them into tangible plans. The development of improved commissioning and procurement practices is a key priority for Achieving for Children and you will work closely with our leadership team to drive forward improvements in this area.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to share their time between our main office in Twickenham as well as work from home for part of the week. Some travel to our other office locations in Kingston and Maidenhead may be required on occasion.

We are looking for a self motivated professional who has experience of developing strategic direction and using commissioning / procurement to support excellent performance. You will have experience of leading a successful team and a good awareness of procurement regulations. Knowledge of children's services is desirable but not a prerequisite and there will be training and development opportunities for the right candidate. The key qualities we are looking for are:
A proven track record as a successful leader including the development of successful teams.
Experience of developing and writing strategies that clearly communicate the direction of travel for an organisation or service. Proven track record of supporting an organisation or service to progress service development
Proven ability to use data, information and evidence to create meaningful insight that can inform strategy or policy development, decision-making and the continual improvement of services.
Experience in using different commissioning approaches to meet the needs of children and young people (or another service user group) including maximising the benefits of commissioning collaboratives and consortia
