Do you want to be at the centre of the democratic decision-making process of a Council whose priorities reflect those of its Communities?
At Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, we pride ourselves on access to local democracy and upholding the principals of good governance. Central to delivering this is an innovative and modern governance services team.
An opportunity has arisen for someone to lead the democratic services section of the team, which provide a comprehensive range of governance services, including supporting various council meetings throughout the municipal year. You will be the go-to person for senior councillors and managers and be responsible for the preparation of committee summonses, agendas, provision of advice during meetings, report preparation and ensuring an accurate and timely record of meetings is made. Reporting to the Principal Governance Officer, you would be ably assisted by two Democratic Services Assistants.
Whilst previous democratic services and minute taking experience would be welcomed, we are primarily looking for someone who can engage confidently and authoritatively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. This should be coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and great organsiational skills.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
