About the role
East Sussex County Council is committed to enabling the best possible start for all babies and young children. Establishing a healthy lifestyle in the early years can play a crucial role in promoting and protecting health throughout childhood and in later life.
We are looking to recruit a Healthy Active Little One Programme Coordinator, maternity cover, to join a team who co-ordinate and deliver a programme to support early years settings (children's centres, private, voluntary and maintained nurseries and childminders) to adopt a whole settings approach to supporting children's and families' health and wellbeing.
This programme is an exciting opportunity to make a difference by supporting early years settings to enhance their practice in all prime areas including healthy eating, physical activity, oral health, emotional wellbeing, accident prevention and speech and language for the children and families that they work with. It involves meeting with settings and auditing their current practice then supporting them in developing through regular contact, delivering training, sending out newsletters and creating resources. A setting's journey of improvement can then be celebrated through a recognition award scheme. Based in the Early Help 0-19 Service, you will work alongside the ESCC Public Health team and have access to training to develop your skills.
The post holder will have experience of successfully engaging and working with early years settings and a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the promotion of health and wellbeing during children's early years. The role requires you to regularly travel across the county and will be based within a Children's Centre in East Sussex.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
