18.5 hours per week Monday-Wednesday.

About the role

We are looking for a part-time Assistant Operations Manager to join a forward thinking, fast moving and progressive residential care service which supports adults with Dementia. If you think you have the skills and drive to contribute to an already excellent service this may be the opportunity for you.

Ireland Lodge is a residential care home for people who have dementia. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission. There are 34 bedrooms all with private facilities.

We provide short term support for a variety of reasons as follows:

  • Respite care. This is a short, planned stay that may be needed to support a carer at home to have a regular break.
  • Transitional care. A short, planned stay to allow for further assessment of  needs. This will help inform further decisions about future care needs.
  • We also have 11 beds to enable long term care to be provided. This is to meet care needs if they can no longer be met at home.

You would be based at Ireland Lodge and work as part of a dedicated and professional team. Your role would be to manage a staff team, oversee the day to day running of the service, assist the Operations Managers in planning and develop services and ensure the service meets legislation and CQC standards of care.
Due to the nature of the service you will be required to be flexible in your working hours to ensure services are monitored and managed to a high standard.

At Brighton & Hove City Council we offer staff a range of benefits. If you choose to work for us, in return we can offer you:

  • Local Government pension scheme
  • A competitive salary
  • 25 days leave a year, rising to 27 days after 5 years service (including 2 extra-statutory days)
  • A programme of learning and development opportunities through our Learning Gateway
  • Council staff benefits include: Bus ticket and Cycle loans; discounts in selected shops and restaurants around the city and reduced cost gym membership with Freedom Leisure.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and upload a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.

Regulations now require all staff who undertake work within CQC registered care homes to be fully vaccinated against Covid 19, unless they satisfy one of the medical/legal exemptions.  Being fully vaccinated or being medically/legally exempt will be a condition of your employment and you will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status or medical/legal exemption as part of the recruitment process for this role
